This summer we opened the Tannery Visitor Centre at our premises in Sauðárkrókur, north Iceland. The Visitor Centre provides visitors with an unusual way to experience the tannery and its products: a guided tour of the actual tannery, plus the opportunity to buy leather goods made from the tannery’s products. Leathers and hides can also be purchased here, direct from the tannery. “Over the years, we have had a lot of visitors to the tannery,” says Sigríður Káradóttir, manager of the Tannery Visitor Centre and one of the owners of Atlantic Leather. “We made them welcome, although we had no proper facilities. But now, with the Tannery Visitor Centre, we have flung our doors wide open, and the response has been beyond our wildest dreams.”

A pink guitar case to hold bottles of vintage champagne, designed by Karl Lagerfeld, is the pièce de résistance at the exhibition Deep Sea to High Fashion at the Icelandic Museum of Design and Applied Art, which highlights fishleather from Atlantic Leather, and the imaginative ways that designers are using it. The exhibition has been in preparation for two years, and some of the exhibits were designed specifically for this event. For more information, see our Newsletter. If you are interested in inventive and innovative ideas, fashion and design, don’t miss Deep Sea to High Fashion at the Museum of Design this summer. The exhibition is open until 5 September. |

In order to help the company's clients walk the fine line between originality and elegance, between avant-garde design and a saleable product, Atlantic Leather presents its products in two ranges: the Classic range, and the latest fashion trend - on this occasion Colours of the Ocean, the summer range for 2011. This will be the focus of the company's stand at the Lineapelle international leather fair in Bologna, Italy, which begins on 16 March 2010.
"The Classic range comprises combinations of leather type, colour and texture which have proved over the years to have a classic appeal," comments Atlantic Leather sales representative María Magnúsdóttir. "These are the products appreciated by a wide range of demanding customers: an ambiance of simplicity, modesty, strength, and not least the highest of quality. We can say, from our years of experience: this works, this is Classic!"
The exhibition in Bologna ends 18 March.

At Atlantic Leather's stand at the Le Cuir à Paris leather fair, now open, samples of the work of different designers and manufactures are on display, from one-man ventures to international corporations. But all these products have one thing in common: they are examples of fine design using fishleather from Atlantic Leather.
Designers love to work with fishleather from Atlantic Leather. It is soft, yet strong, with a character all its own. Examples at the Atlantic Leather stand include bags from Rose Création and Huld design; shoes from Nike, Ecco, Kopenhagen fur and Maria Magnus, and cowboy boots from Ammons; accessories from Kopenhagen fur and Atson; salmon-leather trousers from Amanda Hasan; and patchwork cushions made of washable salmon leather by Helga Friðbjörnsdóttir. See our Gallery .
The exhibition in Paris ends 12 February.
